Summing up the 2009 riding season -
We survived...
Here's an idea - what if the
following items filled up this space:
Anyone have any ideas on how this could be instituted
Letter from Treasurer
- State of the West Bank
Motorcycle Club
Letter from the
Secretary - Taking notes
/ collecting ride sheets...
Letter from the
Safety Officer/s - What
I've (or we've) seen
Letter from the
Ambassador/s - Gettin'
sponsors ain't all we do
Letter from the
Web Master - Gettin'
the information out
Lots of changes for the web site this year. Not in
the layout but in content.
More photo's and video's and ramblings without proof reading.
A few more ride reports and contributions from the members.
There is still plenty of room
for members to add more ramblings about 'whatever'.
Many of the photo's on the home page can be expanded just
by clicking on them. Clicking them again will close them.
These pictures can also be enlarged to original size in
case you want to download them.
These photos, which show a plus sign when the mouse is on
them, may also be part of a slide show set.
Look for the slideshow button at the bottom of some of the
images.
And
now it's the yearly cleanup/archive which is sure to screw
things up...
Starting January 6th I'll be doing a bunch of 'fix ups' on all of the web pages. If you see see junk on some of the pages
please let me know.
2009
- Great start to the riding season - No Snow.
First off - Lets be safe -
Our goal is
'zero'
accidents and fall downs.
See last years opening statement - We still need your
contributions.
40th Anniversary Party
has been confirmed for July 25th, 2009.
The location is the Gas-Lite.
See the
calendar [7/25/09] Initial plans
call for Fri, Sat & Sun. Camping,
food, fires, bike games, refreshments.
First off we need the help of volunteers for:
Contacting 'old' (previous) WBMC members;
Signs, Notices and Mailings; Supplies; Meal & Snacks;
Fun stuff; Historical Information & Handouts; Recognitions
(both serious and gag); Dozens of other things needed
to make this a fun and enjoyable event for all.
Who's willing to take on the task of 'Chief Organizer'
?
Harald's starting off the year
with his R100RT but will soon, and hopefully fairly
slowly, transition into the FJR he got last Nov 28th,
the day before the snow came to stay.
This should be an interesting year.
2009.01.04 Saturday Breakfast at
The Junction - The first for 2009
Start 2009 by looking at the previous
years photo's and newsletters. I'm taking off
for a couple of weeks to do other things. If someone
sends something in I'll post it - otherwise wait til
Feb for updates.
Last Saturday, 12/27, at the sometimes
weekly breakfast, Mark & Yvonne let us in on the good
news. Only thing missing is a gold band which Mark said
is coming soon.
He also needs to calm his mom down because
he didn't tell her beforehand.
February was a short month but it left
us with lots of snow. We now will start off March with
another Barley Therapy Program which is scheduled
for this 'first Wednesday', March 4th at the Junction.
6:30
We had a good turnout for the 1st Wednesday
- see photo's page.
This Saturday, March 7th, a bunch of
us will be at The Junction testing out the Steak & Eggs
or All-You-Can-Eat pancakes (or both)
Come on down & join us - Darrel says he's got plenty
of grill space.
1st
Ever - WBMC Ambassador Run - 2fer Invite Family

Don't

Officers Meeting Saturday, March 21st.
We had a good turnout
Too nice
of a day for a meeting but we needed to
git'r dun.
After mingling in with the wedding crowd for a bit the
dozen plus persons ambled upstairs for a fairly ordered
discussion that didn't stray too far off the agenda.
When (or
maybe that's if) I get any meeting notes I'll be sure
to post-em here.
Once the
meeting was over it was off to enjoy this 'really too
nice not to be on two wheels day'. Somewhere between
6 and 10 bikers made a quick stop at
Don's Little Bar and then headed on into Stillwater.
Paul & myself pushed on to North Hudson to check out
a recommendation from Jac to stop at the NorthPoint
Bar & Grill on the west side of 35.
And really - the one free beer to everyone in your party
flyer really didn't have anything to do with the decision.
I got'ta say that the
North Point Bar & Grill
is a great
place to stop.
Northpoint Bar & Grill

Billy and
the crew were more than just friendly; they were
Biker Friendly. This will be a great Sunday breakfast
stop on the way to some twisty riding that many of us
love to do.
Our last
stop was at
Mayslacks for some wings. No Prescott for shrimp
this week - maybe next week after the meeting.
Don't
forget to check out the photo page for some new stuff.
Late breaking news:::
Looks like one of our members will be laid up for a
while while his knee swelling goes down.
Did ya really think that
you wouldn't get kicked back, hard, at some time when
trying to kick start a cold Norton...
But now you'll have more
time to work on that Fix'r Upper.
Next is the rumor that
some chrome and maybe a bit of skin was left on the
road. New bike; New Member; hope it's just superficial...
Let's all be safe
out there...
Don't forget
about the RC/20 riders meeting on 28 Mar 12pm
Meetings

The general meeting is
over. Treasurer: Scott, Secretary: Lissa, Editor: MarkC
& KarenG;
Webmaster: Harald
Safety: KevinM, JimS, MarkC & Scarfy;
Ambassadors: Mike G, Mikey R, lissa, Gary Z, Mike B.
Here's the
40 year patch selection.
There were 55+ people in
attendance but only 10 bikes. After the meeting and
some more merryment about a dozen or so went to Mayslack's
for wings and things washed down with other things.
On my way home I got hit
by a car - Should have stayed for a bit longer. Also
should have know better than to pass a car stopped in
the middle of the road. Just as I passed his front door
he shot forward, swung hard left and just touched my
cylinder head with his bumper. I'm lucky to have caught
the movement and hung on. Guess it
will be another week before good riding.
See ya on Sat.
Photo's page will give
you an idea of the crowd if you missed out.
This weekend - Annual DeFrost
Yur Nutz Run. Should be warm

is mostly a matter of knowledge and

I've had a major computer
malfunction so web updates will be a little slow until
I rebuild or build a new system. I've also lost all
my emails for this year so if you are waiting for a
reply to something you may want to send it again.
At least the bikes running fine.
This weekend the Flood
Run and next weekend, 4/25, is the clubs first of the
season rides. Get on down to the Junction early so you
have time to pay your dues. No ride credits until
dues is paid.
The ride is to Dave McL's
house. You'll have to come on the ride to get a map.
Or you could always look at last years stuff.
This is a pot luck event - Please try to bring something
to share.
Seasons first club ride
- Ride Report: by Dave McL. 4/25/09
1st ride of the year. At
least it’s not snowing like last year and it’s 20 degrees
warmer. But PTL it didn’t rain (as they said all week
it was supposed to). We had a great time at The Junction
and some of my buddies from the Christian Motorcyclists
Association were nice enough to come over and offer
a bike blessing to anyone that wanted a blessing for
safe riding for the year. There were a number of folks
that wanted that extra protection.
We took off at noon (West
Bank time 12:10) and headed out and around beautiful
Lake Minnetonka. There were about 25 to 30 bikes (yea,
I forgot to count). We had a great ride and no one got
lost (this year). At one point a bank sign stated it
was 54 degrees. Keeping in mind last year there was
frost on the overpasses.
We made it to my home and
there were already lots of people there. We had about
50 bikes and 55 people (no I didn’t count the 4 wheelers).
My wife Pat fixed up lots of food and there was plenty
brought by others. It was wonderful.
And thank you Sue for the
wonderful birthday party cake.
HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY – WEST BANK MOTORCYCLE CLUB.
We sure had a good time saying “HI” to people we hadn’t
see over the long winter months and lots of new people
also. For those of you that didn’t make it, you missed
a great time.
Hope to see you soon

Destination The Junction
– Wednesday April 29, 2009
Well, it was a rainy day,
not sure if the ride is actually going to happen….
When I showed up at the
Junction, Harald, Vern, Milo were waiting and ready
to ride!
As we waiting others started
showing up, but so did the rain….
We patiently waited for
the last couple drops to disappear, and headed out.
I’d decided to shorten the ride substantially, for safety.
Also, for safety, didn’t think we should have any corner
markers. (might rethink that one next time!)
We headed down Franklin,
over the river to East River Pkwy. Got off on 46th,
and came back over the river down West River Road. Thank
you Steve for helping to keep us together!
Took the exit towards the
Veterans Home, rode up to the “scenic overlook”.
Lock and Dam, many hadn’t seen before and thought it
was cool. Across the bridge, back north on Minnehaha,
out to Hiawatha and back to the Junction.
The rain held off until
we were on Hiawatha, so we were able to get a little
dousing before arriving back safely to the Junction.
Thank you all who went
on the ride! For a rain day, there was a pretty
good turnout. About 15 bikes took the ride while
27 members showed up at the Junction!

Sat May 2nd - MarkC must
have spent hours coming up with the twisted, 64 mile,
46+ turn, route that covered a couple of dozen neighborhoods.
Row house lined city streets to parkways with mansions
surrounded with manicured lawns; highways and byways;
Quiet neighborhoods where we interrupted the stillness
with a half dozen rumbling exhausts (the rest of us
where content sliding through unheard); sections of
twists and turns interspaced with long sections where
a bit of 'spirited' riding awoke some; a short stretch
of hard-packed dirt just for me (I presume) and a potty
stop appreciated by many despite the long line at the
door.
With 'Cruise Director'
Jeannine sitting behind Mark reading off the route directions
and tail rider services provided by "Team TNT"®
we made it to Drifters with pretty close to the same
numbers as we left with. We haven't heard who gets credit
for the two U-turns, 'Cruise Director' Jeannine or Mark
but it really doesn't matter since the turnarounds were
quite short and smoothly executed. With most riders
serving as corner markers multiple times I only heard
of one marker that must have 'panicked', leaving a corner
early. Luckily the next riders figured out which
way to turn, easily catching up.
I was definitely one of
those that enjoyed the twists, turns, the inner and
outer suburbs, a bit of dirt road and the 'spirited'
sections of the one of the really great routes not involving
Wisconsin back roads.
Arriving at Drifters we
were greeted with a half dozen or so that decided to
take the straight route - You missed a good ride.
Drifters seems to have satisfied everyone's needs for
refreshments and food as everyone seemed quite happy
by late afternoon.
Not content to call it
a night a bunch of us headed to Hudson to see what's
up at the NorthPoint. Billy, being his usual good
natured self, provided us a few shots to go along with
out regular fare. After a bit we were again eager
to get more out of the evening so we headed back into
Minnesota with the next destination being Whitey's in
Stillwater. Next on the slate was the Little Bar in
White Bear Lake. More food, refreshments and good company
made for the perfect end to another perfect Saturday
of riding.
Got no idea what happened
on the ride as I went to Yarusso's early to take up
the advertised job of Security something or other.
Turns out that it was traffic direction and keeping
people with liquor from stumbling into the sidewalk
or street. I, along with a number of other WBMC
members were glad we could help out on the revival of
Two Wheel Wednesday at Yarusso's.
The threat of stormy weather
did not deter the WBMC from making a good showing.
Many others that arrived early (non-WBMC members) fled
when the sky's darkened up around 5:30. Guess
they didn't figure on only a few dozen rain drops falling.
Those that stayed were greeted with a spectacular double
rainbow that seemed to last forever. Photo page has
some pics.
For those wondering who
the guys I'm with under the rainbow..
on my left and right side are my son's Michael and Jason
(my #1 and #3 sons). They ride Kawasuckies but
I hope they may someday learn the pleasure of riding
old BMW's and quiet pipes.
As twilight settled in
some headed home, others to Savoy's and me and my son's
headed back to the Junction where we spent some time
listening to good music and conversing with Tom and
Little.
Another good day to be
laid off... I'll go look for work tomorrow.
Destination Yarusso’s May
6th 2009
Well the threat of some
severe weather pushed a bit north and made for a rain
free ride, all though some of the folks weren’t taking
any chances and put the rain gear on anyway!
I pulled about 35-40 bikes
out of Whiskey Junction at 6:30pm, no West Bank time
on this ride as I wanted to get the club to the destination
by 7 or so to celebrate Yarusso’s 1st two wheel Wednesday
of the year!
We were greeted by several
West Bankers who showed up earlier to volunteer for
Mike and Annette and the Yarusso family as they suffered
a fire this past winter and are still under construction.
I talked to Fred Yarusso
and he said they should hopefully be open for business
sometime in July - let’s keep our fingers crossed and
hope all goes according as planned!
Maybe the double rainbow
that appeared over St Paul that night was a sign of
good things to come!
As we arrived and parked
the bikes you couldn’t tell there was a fire or the
restaurant was closed as the parking lot was full, the
food wagon was there, and the pasta flowed!
We wish our long time sponsor
and friend’s at Yarusso’s the best!

This was an Open Ride
RC: PaulM
It's a good thing we have
some people that can take up the slack. It's hard
to believe that out of the current 88 club members that
we have we have such a large number of 'open' rides.
Today we were lucky that
the team of Brenda and Paul came up with one great ride
- Brenda suggested we visit a bar that her parents once
owned (which could also explain some of her 'wildness'),
Al's Center Saloon in Center City and Paul came up with
a great route - he even made up a readable map.
We waited until 12:45 for
late comers and then zipped out smartly towards Hwy
36 & County Rd 17 where we headed north. We continued
to putt-putt up the various county roads, 12; 15; 1
& 24, until we intersected with Hwy 8.
From there it was a short hop to Center City and up
the road to
Al's Center Saloon.
Al's was packed with fishing
types but we managed to squeeze in for some of the fantastic
food and a very small sampling of the extensive selection
of beer's and a bit of the scotch selection.
We took a couple of shots
at sitting out on the patio but it always seemed to
cool off just as we got comfortable - so it was back
inside where it was warm, cozy and there were plenty
of tunes queued up on the juke box. On top of
a great afternoon we (that is to say 'Z' using an introduction
to Al from Brenda) got Al's signed up as a sponsor.
Way to be proactive there 'Z' man...
We had barely got to the
edge of town when Mark and Yvonne buzzed by heading
for Al's. Tried to wave them back as I had the sign
in sheet but they missed the wave so I headed back to
Al's to pick them up. We next stopped at the Chisago
Roadhouse Tavern where I talked to Amy adn Dean about
signing up as sponsors - they are thinking about it
and they are biker friendly.
By now we were down to
5; Yvonne, Mark, Brenda, Paul and myself. Mark then
came up with a real good idea - he'd pick up some good
food and he'll get the grill going at this place. Now
that is a good way to end the day - of course the day
did go into the next morning as the food, refreshments
and bike talk kept at least two of us going until the
wee hours of the morning.
Thanks to Paul for picking
up the slack and leading the ride, Brenda for selecting
a great destination, Mark and Yvonne for their hospitality,
Al's for sponsorship and all the West Bank Motorcycle
Club riders on this (and other rides) that make these
rides worth going on.
Now here's an idea:
Any of you out there that have wanted to lead a ride
but were concerned about the responsibility, pre-ride,
maps, etc... Try this: Select a destination, sponsors
are always good; map out a route; pre-ride it to see
what it looks like today; keep the map with you. When
that day rolls around where there is no Road Captain
on ride day you can be the first one to jump up and
say "I'll take it". Then you pull out your map
and go for it.
One of the nice things
about this is that if you miss a turn or need to detour
for construction no one will have much to say about
this since you picked up the ride at the last minute...
Cool Huh....
Now don't go tellin' anyone
else about this. This is just between us.
A Letter from the Treasurer: First and
foremost I would like to thank the West Bank Motorcycle
Club Members, road captains and all officers for honoring
me with the privilege of serving you the members of
this great club
as being the treasurer for one more year!

Wed 5/13 Windy,
Wind'e ride to
Mayslack's RC: ScottP
The winds were high, blowing
bikes from side to side, as we followed the winding
roads along the banks of the Mississippi. This was the
pleasant route that took us from The Junction, through
the U of M, across the Washington bridge and up West
River Parkway to dump us in the NortEast neighborhood
where Mayslack's has been serving up it's Roast Beef
sandwiches for many years. Now it's also the wings,
great service and their sponsorship, that drives us
back there on many Wednesday's.
The early afternoon sprinkles
and high winds didn't keep many away. We had a really
big turnout on this ride. 53 signed in. Mayslack's was
close to standing room only after we invaded the place.
The staff did a wonderful job of getting the refreshments
and dozens of wings and things into the correct hands
quickly.
Lots of food was devoured,
some trivia answered and dis-cussions on this and that
filtered through the crisp, clear, starlit evening.
The 'Z' man put together
some good words for the last couple of rides. I'll just
slip them in here. (also on the Rides
page - Ride Reports)
Thanks also go out to
ClaireG. for typing them in for me.

Drifters Bar & Grill, Inver Grove Heights,
MN
Wow! This ride was different from the start. It even
had a name, Smokers Dis the Rich Ride. Turns out it
was just that. WE blasted thru the rich & famous neighborhoods
of Shakopee, Burnsville, and Lakeville. We ripped thru
the quiet neighborhoods, crackin' our pipes. People
washing Beamers, Poodles and Pomeranians, getting all
riled up. They didn’t know what hit them. We were gone.
We went to Drifters bar on the river. Great tacos; cool
ride Mark C. A small group of us left Drifters when
things started to die down. Vern, Harold, Lissa, Mike
B, Brenda, Chris, Carla & myself. We rode to Hudson
to the North Point Bar. Then over to Whitey's in Stillwater.
From there to Don's Little Bar in White Bear. Then capped
it off at Rudy’s in White Bear. Lissa bought a sampler
platter for us. Thanks Lissa. It was a nice ride on
a cool Saturday.

Yarusso's
I was a volunteer to help out at Yarrusso's. Mike Yarusso
and Family wanted to let the city of St. Paul and their
biker family know that they were down but not out. They
put on a feast for all with free pasta and dollar meatballs.
Great stuff.
Carla and I got there about 4:00pm to set up tables
and chairs. Big turnout for them. Everywhere I looked
there were our members chipping in, doing odd jobs.
Our ladies were serving meatballs and beer. Our guys
were directing traffic and bikes on which way to go,
keeping everyone safe.
After helping put tables and chairs away, some of us
went over to Mayslack’s for more food and beer.
The next day, I saw an article in the St. Paul paper
about all of it. They had some pictures. On one, I saw
Davey sitting at a table with his new bright yellow
jacket on his chair.
Cool huh? Had a good time.

Al’s Center Saloon, Center City, MN
Another cold Saturday. Carla and I pulled into the Junction,
all the hardcores were there shivering over coffee or
getting warm with these great Bloody Mary’s or beer.
Didn’t know where
we were going, but we were ready.
A few locations
got kicked around and most decided on Al’s in Center
City.
Paul led us on
some cool back roads up to Center City.
Al’s is a nice
little bar, tucked off of #8. Cold drinks, great service,
and nice friendly people. Seems our club member Brenda’s
parents, Olie and Lena, bought that very bar in 1967
and ran it for many years. (Might explain Brenda) Anyway,
Brenda mentioned to me that Al, the owner, may be interested
in sponsoring the club and that she would introduce
me to him.
It didn’t take much talking before Al was on board with
the club.
We all liked it there.
Like I say, it
was tucked away off the main drag. We’ll have to get
a ride that way on a warm day when we can show Al our
numbers. In the meantime, stop in at Al’s to have a
drink and say thanks.
Gary Z.
An additional
note:
Another new sponsor, other than
Al’s Center Saloon, is
Northway Sports in East Bethel.
They have a very cool store with hot looking Victory’s,
ATVs, and dirt bikes, they have it all.
Stop in there and buy something.
Say hi to Dan; tell him thanks for sponsoring the
West Bank Motorcycle Club.
Gary Z.
The 'Z' man put together
some good words for the last couple of rides. I'll just
slip them in here. (also on the Rides
page - Ride Reports) Thanks also
go out to ClaireG. for typing them in for me.
Next was a long afternoon
(and evening; and night) at Don's Little Bar. A few
rounds of horse shoes made the afternoon pass rather
quickly. A couple of games of pool and it was evening.
A couple of us stayed even
latter to take on the karaoke crowd. Brenda's set got
the WBMC groupies swaying and doing the wave; encouraging
a standing ovation and wild applause from all.
A bit of dancing put us
within an hour of midnight and home time.
It may have been a cool day but it was a good day to
be out.
With MikeB barely able
to hold a glass with his throttle hand Paul again jumps
in to take the lead for another ride.
MikeB arrived on the B...
seat (back seat), with lissa in charge of the throttle,
soon after the group arrived at Bamboo Betty's.
Back to the ride start: Leave time was uncharacteristically
paul as it was fairly late but good for those that arrive
at noon and expected to have a leisurely late breakfast.
Just about right.
The ride got split early
but by the time we hit 36 & 36 it was back together
and running smoothly on one really wonderful day.
A prospective new member,
Brenda, unfortunately wasn't told of the 'shot gun'
start and didn't see which way the ride departed.
I'd have to say that in
this case the ride lost the rider. She did have a map
and got in with a couple of other WBMC members and easily
made it to the destination by not giving up.
Guess we should 'assign'
a chaperone to those that show up looking to join so
their first experience is a positive one. I did
see that Brenda did spend a fair amount of time with
us so hopefully she left with a positive impression
of us and return for more rides.
Arriving at Bamboo Betty's
we were greeted with a large banner welcoming the West
Bank Motorcycle Club. Really nice, Thanks.
There was lots of
hula-hooping once everyone got settled in and chow'd
down on some of the good food available. With the group
photo out of the way a unique 'drinking game' got underway
with many of the participants being West Bankers.
The object was to down about a third of a plastic cup
of beer (I think it's the last part of last weeks barrel
- just kiddin') and then place the cup at the edge of
the table and then flip if up, making it land upside
down.
With 5 to a team on opposite
sides of a table this is not only a great participant
sport but also a great spectator sport. Right...
Next up was more hula-hooping
that kept the hoopers and non-hoopers entertained.
Those girls sure got it over the guys on keeping the
hoop spinning - of course Jason, my son (yea I said
it) impressed the girls with his hip swinging, hoop
spinning style.
Lots of pictures - and
again I'll ask if there is anyone out there that would
like to caption some (or all) the pictures please don't
hesitate to send me a simple text file of the captions
and I'll get them added to the pictures in short order.
Back at the party there
was... - [I'm waiting for input on this...]

Hey - what do ya know.
Looks like the 'hit counter' will roll into the 5 digits
(that's past 9999) around the end of the month.
I guess there are some that are looking at this page.
It's worth it.
Dang - looks like I was
wrong again. We're already over 10,000.
Who's been doin' all the clickin'
Great ride on a cool night
to twist through St. Paul, over the high bridge twice,
and cover lots ground at a moderate pace with a very
large group of West Bank riders.
Brenda did come back for
another ride and to correct me on the Saturday ride
where I may have given the impression that it was she
that got lost. That was not correct. She did miss
seeing the initial direction of the ride because of
the 'shot gun' start but hung in there and easily found
the destination along with a couple other WBMC'ers that
also got a late start. Welcome to the WBMC
Back at the Tavern the
group pretty much entered as one fluid mass and immediately
took over the patio for sign-in. Food, refreshments
and the usual biker conversation floated through the
cool evening air as everyone settled in.
Mark brought his Mac to
show the initial newsletter layout mockup using the
club purchased Paint Shop software. Hopefully he will
have something that will be available 'real soon' now
that can be used for both a paper and web site distribution.
Hey Members - drop an email
(or talk to Mark or KarenG) to let them know what you
would like in a newsletter and how you would like it
delivered - web page, email or snail mail. Keep in mind
that printing and mailing (postage) is expensive these
days.

We have us another 'real' ride report - Thanks Justine
Wednesday the 27th
ride to Tavern on the Avenue!
It
was a bit chilly but we had a pretty good group that
made it out - Except for those lazy ones
that decided to just meet us at the destination! (you
know who you are - hehe)
As
a passenger I try to look around and check out as much
as I can on the rides. I haven't seen this side
of St. Paul before and all the different windy roads
were really cool.
At one point, as we made our way toward the end of a
large circle, I noticed a lot of trains and old buildings.
Will had pointed out that this particular street looked
like it was stuck in the 70's! Lots of nice houses
and old cars.
Although
I didn't get any pictures I'm sure harald will have
enough!
(to which harald
sez: Sorry to say that on the FJR I can not as of yet
take pictures on the fly. Easy on the R100RT with
it’s throttle lock and very well known handling characteristics
when taking pictures on the road).
Thumbs up to
Tavern on the Avenue for such a good food special...
Can't beat a New York Strip and a pint of beer
for 10 bucks! Their sandwiches were delicious
too.
I'm
looking forward to more Wednesday nights and I'm working
hard on getting my 20 rides in this year!
I can't wait for the 27th of June
-Justine
Might as well
mow the lawn as I wait for Milo's promised ride report.
Anyone else got input - Please send it in.
We got plenty of open spaces - Give me something to replace the
empty space with Come-on
Rain...
Sat 5/30 Gilby's Custom
Motorcycle / Car Show RC: Milo
Straight east on 94 and
down 35/65 to see the cool customs bikes and cars at
PR's Place. Great weather & Great time at a Great
place to spend part of an afternoon in the sun.
I'm working on the 404
pictures I took this Saturday. Hold on...
Oh - heck... You sort them
out - go look at the photo's page...
It was interesting talking
to Neil Gilby about all the signatures on his bike.
He's got a really interesting photo album you'd like
to browse. Brenda got to sit on Ross Freeman's
2002 Yamaha V-Star1100 with a trick stretched tank.
She would have taken off with it if she could have found
the keys. Lots of other really nice bikes and cars that
took more than one look to appreciate.
Plum City was next on the
list of places to go. Then it was over to Boat Drinks
in Prescott for the necessary shrimp to make this Saturday
complete. Kevin, on the snortin' Norton, and gang
were there enjoyin' when we arrived as were a bunch
of others WBMC members - it's getting to be a regular
meeting place.
As the sun touched the
horizon the pack slowly devolved, some heading home,
others (Nortons) heading to the Junction while I did
the gentle-manly thing and took Milissa (a friend of
Mark and Yvonne) back to Newport. (something about
a party caught my interest - maybe) Ever ride
with a Mexican jumping bean on the back... Just
kiddin' - kind of. - the ride was fine. Thanks for keeping
my back warm. And really - I was trying hard to
keep my shifting as smooth as possible... Really I was...
Too bad Yvonne drew the
short straw and had to go back home to let the dogs
out. Mark really didn't have much (any) fun without
you by his side - Really...Really...
After getting the hand
signals straightened out I was finally able to navigate
us into the back forty, among the trailers to the north
of the Go Cart track, and find the youngsters party.
Very friendly folks - Great party - Great people - Lots
of food and a fire Jimmy would have be proud of. Found
a honkin' big stump in the wood pile that had a big
hole in the middle. Got that placed right into the middle
of the fire to create a blazing chimney of flame.
Another chimney stump got
placed onto the first one to create one really large
blow torch quality flame. Had to take lots of
pictures probably because I see so many images in the
flames - Whatever
Took a little coaxing but
I was able to get Chanel to do a little dance next to
the fire - made for some good camera shots. If
it rains real soon I'll get the video's up also (
- promises, promises).
Last but not least of the
things necessary to finish off this Saturday was to
head back to
Whiskey Junction to catch
Bad Animals - a Heart tribute band. On stage
were Bobby Sue Jones (Lead Vocals);
Joelle Negaard (Guitar, Lead Vocals);
Leni DiMancari (Guitar, Keys, Vocals);
Aaron Carlson (Bass, Vocals);
Tim Davis (Drums).
Kevin & Brad & gang was
still there as was Scott making the rounds. Place was
packed. Chris was maning the door; Mike behind the bar;
Tom & Little scurrying around keeping things running
smoothly. The evening ended quietly at this point.
WoW - Midnight sure does come sooner than expected...

A note from Milo:
PR's Place in River Falls, Wisconsin was very happy
to have the WBMC at their establishment. I was
contacted and asked how many people signed in... I believe
there were 42.
PR's is giving us 42 free
concert tickets valued at $20.00 per ticket to see
Back Porch Mary (out of Austin, Texas) playing
at PR's Place in River Falls, Wis. on June 27, 2009.
If you went to PR's on
the May 30, 2009 run and you signed in you get a free
ticket. If you cannot make it on that day
then pass it to another West Banker..........

Wed 6/03 Cloverleaf
Bar & Grill, Newport RC:
RichardH
Richard starts us off heading
down on the river road, thru Mendota Heights, around
South St. Paul and then into Newport to end up at the
CloverLeaf Bar & Grill (one of our sponsors).
Chowing down on their great
food seemed to be the evenings passion. The cool evening
air didn't keep many inside as the evening wore on.
Looked like most everyone got out just before the sun
set. ~hn
Sat 6/06
Pickle Factory Rain, rain, rain kept us
away RC: Vern
If ya would-a made it to
the Junction you got a cheap ride credit.

Wed 6/10 Miller's Tap
Long Ride to New Prague RC: StacieP
We finally get out of town.
A nice long ride down 13 to New
Prague. Pulling up to Miller's Tap we see a big
sign on the wall stating 'Welcome - Stacie's West Bank
Motorcycle Club Run'. Boy, this girl's got it together.
Not only a custom sign but there is also a big, hot
pot of sloppy Joe's waiting for us - well some of us
as I only got to wipe out the bottom of the pot. One
of the draw backs when trying to get pictures.
Although it may be that WBMC members can smell 'free
food' at great distances and then pounce like cats to
surround and devour.
On entering New Prague
we spotted the Miss
MN Valley / Queen of the Seasons candidates.
It's good they stopped by as a number of West Banker's
were ready to purchase buttons to support their program.
Millers Tap was a very
friendly, roomy place with an outside patio area that
was able to handle the outside seeking congregation.
The Triumph Rocket III
was looking extra inviting for a quick drag out on the
long straight country roads - but I only took some pictures
of the beast. Me and a few others stayed around
until darkness settled in before heading back into the
cities.
I tried but failed to stay
on the road - can't seem to pass up a good looking dirt
road especially when you can just make out a lake and
the mist drifting through the trees and over the road.
Got a few, fairly slow, miles on the hard packed red
class5 & clay before getting back on the blacktop and
calling it a night.
The FJR, with it's very
bright high beams, was almost as good as my RT on the
dark, curvy roads. Be glad, real glad you didn't
follow me - I would have lead you astray for sure.

Coming up next weekend,
June 19-21 at the
Minnesota State Fairgrounds is the
Minnesota
Street Rod Association's
"Back
to the 50's weekend"
Ride to Work Day is
Monday, June 15th. We hope you'll ride to
work, ...ride just for fun, ...for your daily errands.
We hope you'll also tell your riding and non-riding
friends about the event
Roger gathered
together the rag-tag group of bikers like a mother duck
and meandered them across the river in safety to the
State Fair grounds for the Viking AMCA show. We were
able to see a collection of more than 160 antique bikes
on display along with many posters, tools and trivia
items. Theme: "Re-Cycle
the 60's"
Forgot your camera?
Jump on over to the photos page...
Barely got the pictures
taken and I hear most of the group is heading out.
Couldn't wait 5 more minutes could you. Well...
Mark and Yvonne were still there, a bit undecided on
what to do next, so them and me joined up and headed
for Prescott.
Stopped in Afton for ice
cream - It was good. Continued on to Boat Drinks and
just dismounted when this large, rag-tag group pulls
in and parks in random fashion - Must be West Bankers.
Plenty of shrimp,
oysters & pizza devoured before heading on to the Nauti
Hawg in Diamond Bluff for more relaxation on the large
deck overlooking the river and enjoying the clear, sunny
sky.
Again everyone was gone
before I finished looking at the 1981 R100RT with only
33,000 miles. Started heading south, then north,
then west, then north... OK, How did I get north of
94 already... Oh well - lets just keep going Zig-Zag
and head for the dark clouds... Once under them
it's back southwest and home.

Nice easy run down River,
Shepard, Warner roads. A little bit of highway with
a jog for a pop stop and it's into
Hope Glen Farm.
A beautiful little farm overlooking the Cottage Grove
Ravine area.
Paula & Michael had the
brats and dogs cooked up and waiting for the riders
as they pulled in. The food line formed immediately
and kept moving smoothly. Thanks so much for feeding
us.
Now I'm not sure what happened
down by the goat pen... I'll be waiting for the pictures
and write-ups from those down there.
As the daylight faded the
large thunderheads, illuminated with ever brighter lightening
flashes, became the center of focus for the few remaining
riders not concerned with the possibility of rain.
On my ride north and west
I had the feeling the lightening was following me
- how about your ride; How was it?
~hn
We got us another
new member - Doug Mikkelson of Billings MT.
I don't think he'll
be making many Wednesday (or Saturday) rides but he
did indicated that he will try to make it to the 40th
year party.
Here is what he's
sent in: My brother-in-law (Gary Zimmermann, one of your
ambassadors) was telling me about your club today and
I thought I would like to join. I'm a native Minnesotan
but live in Billings Montana, have been for about 15
yrs.
My wife and I love riding and after my stroke 9 yrs.
ago I thought I would never ride again so I sold my
Gold Wing and thought that was it. 2 yrs ago I
started riding again.
Boy does it feel good to get back on two wheels again.
Please send me membership info. (Looks
like he got it)
Now I'm riding a '95 Kawasaki Voyager
XII, only 37K miles on it. I'm looking forward
to a lot more years riding it in the beautiful mountains
here in Montana. (especially with my new sheepskin seats).
I just might see what I can do about coming out for
the big bash on 7/25, sounds like a lot of fun.
Hope to see you there.
Another of Mark's
"I'm going to cycle the corner marker many times' ride.
Seems like there were 20 corners before we got to Stillwater
for a quick ice cream stop. Strange how many of
the corners had directional arrows painted on the roadway!
At Klinkers Chris was all
set up with brats, sauerkraut, cowboy beans, chips,
pickles and of course 'Apple Pie' - all for $5.
Yum
We spent a fair amount
of time playing pool, listening to music and eating.
Once I figured out where south-west was I also spotted
a couple of loads of skydivers enjoying this super day.
The small band I was with
Zig-Zag'd and wiggled around the back roads, had a 'pit
stop' between the rises of a quiet country road
to enjoy the quiet and solitude made better with friends
present.
Finally got to Boat Drinks
to wolf down some shrimp, take more pictures and wait
for the sun to get below the trees.
Now a special thanks to
Mark and Yvonne for the great late night meal.
Mark & Yvonne, you really do put out a great spread.
This did make me late for Blind Lizard but it was worth
it.
You know - since Mark really
likes to grill, and is really good at it, we may want
to ask him to consider either doing or at least helping
with the cooking for the 40th year party.
Ask him...
~hn
This was the 33rd
Blind Lizard gathering . If you have any interest in
the old rides or the odd-ball two and 3 wheelers then
you really need to make the trip to Nicollet Island
for a look-see.
Get there before noon if
you want to be sure of getting a t-shirt. Like previous
years only small and medium's were left by 2pm.
I grabbed a spot right
up front next to Jak & Donna. Other early arrivals were
the 'twisted road crew' of Paul, Vern, Kevin... then
there was Richie, Davey, Chad, Dick Snyder, 'The Blind
Lizard' his self (Tom the Tailor) and finally Scott
& Sue at about 1:35.
There was on and off light
sprinkles but no one seemed to notice. By 3pm things
were closing down and the island was quiet again.

Snail LakeRerouted to Mark &
Yvonne's RC: MikeMcC
Keeping your fingers
crossed did keep the rain away but a knife like stare
from the police at the pop stop suggested that the ride
bypass Snail Lake Pavilion and head to nearby Mark &
Yvonne's Place.
Good choice and we thank
Mark & Yvonne for
hosting the group of about 50 bikers at their place.

Pickle Park Rain or Shine we're going
to have fun... RC: JustineP & WillieD
Be sure you reserve yourself
some extra time after the Pickle Park run on
June 27th to attend the '4pm to Whatever
Party' at Paul & Michelle's. Click
flyer for more info
Latest note from Justine:
I'm hoping the weather
changes or it might just be straight to Paul and Michelle's
to start partying early!
If anyone wants to
stay at their place bring tents, chairs and BYOB
I can't wait for everyone
to see Pickle Park and enjoy going NORTH for
once!!
Sat 6/27
Pickle Park Just a sprinkle RC:
JustineP & WillieD
Heavy rain overnight but
ending in late morning made it an easy decision to head
on down for the Pickle Park ride. The sprinkle here
and another there did not interfere with the ride as
it twisted and turned up towards EJ's way up there just
north of Coon Lake. EJ's is a great stopping off place
with it's large parking area, open and comfortable inside
and very nice outside patio area.
We pretty much packed the
place for this half way stop before heading back down
to the sign in stop at Pickle Park.
Here we took over the outside
patio for an hour of enjoying the sun and refreshments
along with the never ending 'gossip?'.
Time doesn't stand still
and neither does the WBMC - especially when it's made
known there's food to be had just down the road. Bike
after bike, in groups of 1 to 4 or so headed out to
the feed.
We appreciated the hamburgers
& hot dogs along with the many fixin's served up by
hosts Paul and Michelle. We appreciated Mike &
Annette of
Yarusso's for letting Paul and Michelle borrow a
bunch of chairs so we didn't have to sit on the ground.
Jimmy was allowed to get
a fire roaring and the next little rain shower didn't
put a dent into the flames. Actually no one so much
as moved to shelter so it must not have been much of
a rain event.
One of the questions that
did not get a definitive answer tonight was "How many
West Bankers does it take to set up a tent" - the numbers
varied and no one seemed to have gotten the final count.
Hula Hooping was again
observed - we do need bigger hoops...
All too soon the darkness
surrounded us, the crescent moon made a feeble attempt
to laminate the surroundings and inspire words of wisdom
to be issued forth from the remaining party goers. Some
left others came to replace them - the party continued
on...
As the moon rose further
in the night sky most of the bikers began to drifted
away to the sound of the early forth of July fireworks
echoing in the distance. ~hn
Wed 7/01
NowThen What a strange name for a town
RC: Ragz
Again the rain gods gave
way to the 50 strong that headed out to the northern
reaches of our local Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
The traffic was sedate
and nice to us as we streamed north on 35 & 10 and the
lights were also pretty cooperative as we streamed up
65. By the time we hit Viking Blvd we had again bunched
up and looked like a group that had ridden together
for ... well... all of at least a couple of miles. Anyway,
the road felt almost like the wilds of Wisconsin with
farms and fields off to both the left and right.
A pop stop and a couple
of more miles put the group on NowThen Blvd and at RagZ
door step. I was one, probably the only one, to continue
on to find a stream where I took a couple of pictures
and then went on to discover a couple of very winding
roads where I wiggle around a lot of horse apples and
tight curves at a rapid two-shift pace. It just
felt right and the scenery was interesting.
On arrival at RagZ the
group was greeted with lots of brats, burgers, chicken,
buns, chips, couple of kinds of potato salad and more
than most of us deserved. Thanks RagZ; we appreciated
it.
There was of course the
fire stoked by Jimmy. Lots of sittin' and tire kickin;
stories; pretty much without the actual tire kickin'.
Many left before darkness
settled in but there were a bunch that seemed to want
a midnight ride home. I enjoyed
mine... ~hn
Sat 7/04 It's
another green 4th of July party
RC: MikeG
North to Osceola, just
missing the rain, with a stop at PY's and Cascade. Back
south, again just missing the rain, to Newport.
Great ride and the hospitability
at the destination was first rate.
Ride Report from
MikeG After a great breakfast
at Whiskey we headed out to Osceola WI. We went
north on 94 up to Manning and chased the rain clouds
all the way to Osceola.
Once there the group went
all over the damn place... some to the leather shop,
some to bar and some to the Ice Cream place.
Wasn't too long before
we left and headed back south to Hudson.
On our way, I decided to
keep the group dry and to NOT head
into the storm in front of us. So we changed the pop
stop and headed home, AWAY from the storm, and
luckily we
never got a drop of rain!!
Thanks to Lissa, Mike and
Murph for getting ice for the party.
When we got to the house,
the girls had the food out and the wieners on the grill.
Jim Slechta took over the wienie grilling. Karen's bread
& spread and potato salad were a hit again.
Thanks again Jan for helping
with the potato salad.
People trickled in all
day and the storms went away.
When it got darker the
kids and Willy had a good time shooting off fireworks.
We watched the neighborhood fireworks and they were
pretty darn good...
A BIG thanks to all of you that made it
a GREAT DAY!!! Mike G
Don't forget the
40 year party at the Gas-Lite July
25-26
Help - someone
make up a colorful flyer for the 40th year party I know I should have done it by now but... no excuse
sir...
If
you know of past West Bank Motorcycle Club members that
may not know about this event please inform them or
drop a note to anyone on the contacts page with names.
phone number, address, whatever so we can contact them...

Good Route. Great destination.
Clear lake. Lots of fish to catch. Thanks for
the grub.
Sat 7/11 Dean's
Tavern - Diesel Run for ALS
RC: lissa
Ride to Dean's
Tavern followed by Diesel Run for A.L.S
Flyer
Pleasant ride
to Dean's. Uneventful, the way we like them. Prompt
11am leave that got us to Deans about 11:40.
Harry the Hat
mentioned to me, upon arriving at Dean's, that in his
35 years as a member, we were on some roads he had never
rode on before. Cool!
Spent about a
half hour at Dean's, milling around, checking out some
of the bikes and the silent auction.
Saying hello to
David (owner) and Justin (Founder of the ride) and of
course Jen (the beautiful power behind the throne).
The ride left
Dean's about 12:30. We left shortly afterward
to
catch up. Grabbed some grub at Blacksmiths in
Hugo. Dean's ride showed up just as we were finishing.
A few of the WBMC
showed up as well.
From there, Mark
C, Dwight, Mike B and I rode to see how things were
at Marine on St. Croix. Service was pretty poor.
From there we
went to get a stamp for the Biker Memorial Run at the
Old Log Cabin, met up with Wrangler and headed out to
the Nauti Hawg, followed by Gas-Lite.
SCVR was having
their Round Barn Run. Said “hi” to some fellow biker
friends, Porkchop was playing, beautiful nite.
Another great
day!
Sun 7/12 Meet at
The Point Hwy 10 & 61 at 11am. Leave 11:15
An impromptu run up the
Red Wing Hill (aka Sorin's Bluff and also by the road
name Skyline Drive) via Afton and the many twisty roads
around that area. Cut back just short of Fontenac
After the Hill we ziged
& zaged to stay on as many of the the twisty roads as
the GPS allowed me to identify, trying hard to avoid
the gravel, for the next leg to the Nauti Hawg patio.
After refreshments and
boater watching it was off to the Gas-Lite.
After more refreshments
and doing some photo's of the area - along with taking
pictures of the 'kid' (aka Jason) climbing around the
Huey we were off to the required Boat Drinks Shrimp
feast.
Got lots of pictures of the Gas-Lite area so anyone
undecided about going to the 40 year party can see what
a beautiful area it is.
yes - the photo's are on the photos page

enjoyed. The WBMC Thanks You.
Couple of comments from
lissa related to smokers run:
The girls from Sinners (Riley and Carmen) came across
the street and invited us to the show. We weren’t
able to join them at the time, but the invitation is
for ˝ cover until 10 every day and on Sundays (just
in case anyone is interested).
Also, an update of the Steel
Horse Saloon:
August 1, Sugar Ray’s Corn Feed and Roast.
August 8, Antique Tractor Pull.
August 15, End of Poker Run.
All include Live Music, Vendors and Food!
Tammy specifically asked that we let folks know she
is back from medical leave!!.
Wed 7/22 The
Bar,
Hastings the long way around RC: GaryZ
Ain't no stinking detour gonna keep us from going the
long way around to get to The Bar. Very large
turnout
The West Bank
Motorcycle Club 40 Year Party and Get together is
now an indelible entry in the clubs history books.
Lots of current
members and a dozen or so member from our illustrious
past. A pretty good turnout with lots of campers.
I apologize for not keeping
notes and getting names. I should know
better by now. If anyone did take names and notes please
send them in for inclusion in the official 'record'.
Friday brought a bit of
rain to the Gas-Lite but this helped to give the landscape
that fresh, green, country glow. No hip waders needed.
Scott had the setup well
organized and First Sergeant Michelle kept things organized,
on track and moving the rest of the weekend.
Friday night had half the group up at the Gas-Lite,
half sticking close to the munchies and coolers and
the hooligan half hanging out closer to the stream,
enjoying the night air, watching the fireflies and making
a run to the cooler every now and then. I believe quiet
finally came to the campground around 4:30am
Saturday dawned clear, cool. KevinM, Vern & myself had
places to go so we fired up the bikes and were off before
others awakened.
Hope breakfast was good, Bloody Mary's strong, aspirin
plentiful.
Let me know what happened between 8 and noon.
Bike games included slow race; run the plank; bite the
weenie; tire toss; obstacle course. The kids got
to roll in the hay finding coins. Too bad time ran out
forcing the cancelling of the duck race.
Food was devoured around 6 to 7, in between the last
bike events.
Members of 'fire starters division #2' lit the pile
up while everyone else was eating and finishing bike
games. (Jimmy, Pyro#1, was still doing bike games).
Last bike events were 'fish tail it' and 'bike roll'
Eating, Picture viewing - More stuff.... Groups
started forming.
People wandered around from group to group
Some went over to 'crash' the wedding; other to
the bar for pool.
Fire was so big we had to sit 10 feet away to avoid
getting fried but then you already guessed that didn't
you.
Someone should fill in some of the blanks. I know, or
believe I remember, taking some interesting pictures
but they just ain't on the camera... like my pony
tail pictures for one - where are they...
Midnight came quickly, there's still a log or two left
(they were being used as seats) and another 'shipment'
of refreshments arrived.
Couple of wedding party people stopped by; people
returned from the bar after 2; fireworks; less noise
than Friday; etc, etc
Around 3:30am the unmistakable screaming buzz of a Kawasaki
could be heard zeroing in on the Gas-Lite. Who
the heck could be trying to wake up the cops patrolling
these roads. Holy-Carp... It's Jason, my #3 son.
Others said no - he's up in the Boundary Waters camping.
Of course it's him. Damn - his 'Adventure Genes'
been turned on. He came all the way down just to be
here for the fun.
At least he had Yvonne watching him, keeping him out
of trouble.
4:30 and all was quiet - - - - And then ... lots
of cleanup on Sunday.
Oh ya - there was a ride from Gas-Lite, down 'O' to
Nauti Hawg.
I'm now waiting for the flood of emails and photo's
which should provide plenty of fodder or 'interesting
tidbits' which may be needed for 'clarifications of
events' as the retelling of events begins and continues
until the year end party provides the next set of 'conversation
starters'.
Did get some pictures from Paul & Michelle and Justine
- thanks...
Bike game video's are also up.
Wed 8/05 Sturges
Park Can't be there
- be here RC: MikeR
Almost looked like Mikee
would be leaving alone but then the group finally got
moving, lined up and headed out into one very long streamer
heading out 94 and then west on highway 55.
Once on to county road
6 the pace was pretty steady through the cool country
side. The dark gray clouds we saw from the cities were
becoming lighter gray and finally disintegrating, allowing
the clear blue sky's to again show through.
A quick pop stop in Water
Town and it's 'off to the races' to cover the last couple
of miles up 25 to Sturges Park on the shores of Buffalo
Lake. Sign in, a bit of playing on the kiddie
toys, tire kicking & story telling - hey, the moon is
up and it's getting dark.
Didn't take long for the
stars to pop out, one by one and then in clusters, signaling
us that it was time to clear out. Some of us late
leavers decided to head in to Hamel stopping at
Inn Kahoots.
On leaving there was plenty
of police and fire personnel routing traffic - this
at first gave the impression of a 'traffic stop'.
Nope.
All was OK - It was some other kind of emergency and
had nothing to do with the 'bikers'. I tried taking
an old shortcut but got a bit off track and did a round-about
around Culvers... Oops.
Eight or ten of us ended
up at
Inn Kahoots for a nightcap or two. Did a bit of
Volleyball watching and got in a game of Binko and Anna
practiced getting the 'ring on the hook'. They've
got one of MarkC's 'Rings' on a string and you swing
it (like a pendulum) to get it to hook on to the hook
screwed into a nearby post. Try it.
A great way to end a wonderful
day.
Sat 8/08 BC Ranch
Good route, heat, no weenies RC: LorettaB
Here's the ride
report from Loretta:
After the rumble of thunder
over-night the rain finally subsided Saturday morning.
With the temperatures climbing near 90 degrees, dew
points in the 70's and still the treat of scattered
storms, we left the Whiskey Junction for an awesome
50 mile sunny ride.
Thanks to Milo for mapping
this route and leading us to the BC Ranch we call
HOME.
When we arrived Renee,
Amber, and Ashley had the tables of snacks ready for
the hungry WestBankers.
Then... came the pizza's.....
pizza's and more pizza's.
We partied into the evening.
Rags and Niki left on the HD and headed to Nowthen only
to run into a downpour and the frightening sounds of
tornado sirens. Thankfully some good Samaritans
offered them some shelter and a beer until the weather
calmed down a little.
With a bright full moon,
a cool looking lightning storm, along with a couple
of quick downpours in which we headed to the garage
for shelter until the rain passed, we partied hardy
until 1am.
Thanks to everyone who
helped me put this party together and thank you all
for coming. I would have to say it was the best
B-day party I have ever had.
Loretta Baty
I heard Milo say that his
3+ hour zig-zag tour up to Hell Hole Lake was a hit
and loved by all. A few came up on Friday night and
others early on Sat. morning. Sign in sheet contained
38 entries.
I hope everyone thanked
Pat & Marlene for again hosting this event. Most
of you can't imagine the time required to get things
setup, keep things organized and then do the cleanup...
The WBMC sends a big
THANK YOU to Pat & Marlene.
Weren't there; want to
know what happened up there - you'll have to talk to
some of the member that were there. I ain't talkin'...
but have posted some, hopefully, non-embarrassing photo's.
Here's Milo's
Hell Hole Ride Report:
As always.......I look
forward to lead the ride to Hell Hole each year.
I believe it was 6 WestBankers this year and ride we
did.
We zig-zaged to Taylor
Falls and quenched our thirst on some Bloody Mary's
before taking some really cool back roads up to hell
hole. We took all secondary back roads that was
way to cool. Nice weather and nice scenery.
I believe the last 20 miles
or so we only seen about 3 cars and that we had the
whole rode to our self.
Some one asked me how the
hell did I know those roads so well and I smiled and
replied.........Hell....I did not know where I was either
but programmed my GPS for all secondary back roads.
I think we put on 132 miles from our starting point.
I think I will go that
way next year. Thanks to all who road with me.
Can't wait till next hell hole.
Milo.....WBMC
Here's a contribution
from Mark Koch:
Sick of hearing Harald
bitch, so here is my ride report for Hell Hole.
Pat Cremin hosts a “Hell” of a party. If you have
never been there, I highly recommend it.
This year had quite a bit
of rain, but it only made for a different type of Hell
hole, not a bad one (no such thing!)
My favorite part is the
midnight hayride. I am a big fan of imagination
theater and having Pat tell his stories is like our
own private version of this radio classic. To
be on that hayride with Pat is quite the privilege.
Even with the flat tire!
I for one am honored that
you allow us to return every year.
Thanks Pat, hopefully we didn’t trash
the place too much!
Mark Koch
Here's room for someone
to contribute some notes about how we (as a group) handled
the little rain dropped on us, something's about Michelle's
great grilling skills and of course the Hay Rides with
Pat's story telling. Then there was the water
slide, fishing, boating, swimming, getting surprised
in the outhouse.
From Tornado Mike:
Here's an event for us WBMC'ers
August 29th - Spin your
wheels to Pioneer days, then camping in New Ulm and
ride back on Sunday.
Details: So you
like to ride hard and with spirit! Join a few
of us for a curvy tour to Pioneer days. See truck
pulls, old steam powered saws, old evaporation cooled
motors, be amongst more Lutherans than you thought possible,
have some white food.
That night we will end
up in New Ulm. Camp at the state park and maybe take
in a Shells brewery tour before lunch and the ride home.

Wed 8/19 Putnam
Gardens An ever changing garden RC: AndyP
A stormy evening seemed
to be on tap but we made it to the gardens without needing
rain gear.
The storm stayed to the
west allowing us to enjoy the garden and the great brats
and fixin's Lisa set out.
Sat 8/22 Ann
Lake A beautiful, cool riding day
RC: Jimmy H
Plenty of confusion about
the Toy Run started the day. The tail end of the
ride got left behind at a stop light. It's always
amazing that we can still make it to the destination
at nearly the same time.
After the stop at McBee's
on Ann Lake the majority of the group continued on,
under the leadership of Jimmy H, to the toy run.
About a half dozen decided
to head east and south. Someone from the north
group will have to send in something on what was interesting
to them. I'll cover the South East route.
We headed to Mora for gas.
Stanchfield for a quick one then on to Rush Point for
a quick surprise visit to Vicky but found she was not
minding the store today - playing hooky?
Next was Sunrise to check
out the tubing and finally to the Little Bar in White
Bear Lake for food and relaxation.
How
was your day - let us know...
A large group wiggled through
St. Paul, zoomed out 94, streamed down Indian Trail
into Afton for the final run down into Prescott.
With the bikes crowded
into the Muddy Waters back lot the riders crowded onto
the multi-level patio. Few empty tables remained.
Plenty of eats and refreshments
were consumed by the tough as nails riders...
Those that didn't get their fill here jumped over to
Boat Drinks for Shrimp and Oysters to top off the night.
It sure is getting dark
earlier and earlier already...
Sat 8/29 Wiggled
over to
Glockenspiel,
St. Paul RC: Tracey
Cool afternoon to gently
wiggle out Minnehaha, over to St. Paul, up Lilydale,
back down Hwy 13 and finally up Shepard Rd to the last
few turns that got us to the Glockenspiel. I got
22.22 miles.
Great selection of brews
and food was enjoyed by all.
Wed 9/02
Lucky's 13 Pub, Mendota Part
of the 'Visit a Sponsor' ride series
RC: MarkE
A quick trip down Minnehaha
over to St Paul and across the Mendota bridge.
I thought I had lost everyone on the way there - I pulled
up to Lucky's 13 Pub by myself.
Great service from Lucky's.
Food was hot; beers were cold; lots of people
gathered on the patio to enjoy the night. Did anybody
see the nachos? feeds like 10 people. ~MarkE
Sat 9/05
Wheeler, WI
Via Kistner's Korner for a bit of fun in the river
RC: MarkE
After the quick 'get out
of town' stretch to WI exit 4 we were within minutes
of some really great riding roads that first took us
to Connorsville for a great Bloody Mary and then back
down to Wheeler for a plunge in the cool, clear Hay
river. Only a couple of us were brave enough
to venture into the water and those that didn't really
missed out - cool and refreshing.
After the park fulfilled
it's purpose, in this reality anyway, much of the group
headed into town for some food and refreshments.
On the trip back a few of us took a detour to Don's
Little Bar.
Wed 9/09
9/11 Memorial Ride Doc
brought the flag RC: Scarfy
Quickly through south Mpls.
Great chilli - Thanks Kathy & Roger. The
few raindrops, OK, but the humidity we could have done
without. Not long after dark the stars were shining
bright.
I guess it was
an OK ride... Almost made the 11am
leave but ended up waitin' a bit longer...
We had a good day. Clear
weather all the way. Good roads and some of the best
'on the stick' Pork Chops and Chicken I've had in a
long time. Old time farmers portions on
everything available.
If you liked pies & sweets
they were also in abundance.
Didn't wait around for
Testicle Tasting as the twisty roads beckoned.---->
Some twisted down to Wanderoos
via 150th St, Random Drive and finally on to Wanderoos
Road. Quite exciting on a couple of sections.
I only 'puckered' once (or twice) - and I was leading...
how was it for you?
There's 9/06 Almena Pre-Ride
road pictures on the photo's page.
Wed 9/16
Keenan's A 'Visit
our Sponsors' ride
RC: Scarfy
Down 35 to Black Dog, a
route we know well, got us back to Lilly Dale and then
7th street to the final destination of Keenan's.
On arrival there seemed
to be more bikes present then were on the ride - what
a surprise. When all were accounted for there were at
least 66 riders on the roster. Not a bad showing for
Wednesday.
And what was it with 'free
wings' being passed out and no one told me. Didn't
get a one but from the smell they must have been good
I was told there would be
more dialog coming so stay tuned...
Sat 9/19
Flood Run Junction
breakfast @10; leave 11 RC: Milo
Nice leisurely breakfast
at Whiskey Junction before the 11am leave down to Prescott.
Flood Run turn out in Prescott seemed lighter than in
past years. 1st sign-in was near the No Name.
Next stops were the usual:
Diamond Bluff to hang out over the river - Very crowded.
Maiden Rock - Going in was not too bad and watching
the Harleys stall on the hill going out was Hilarious.
Nelson was quite empty
compared to years past (second hand info).
Anyone with more info please
pass it on as I'm sure that the one or two that read
this would be interested in hearing from others - especially
what it was like on the Minnesota side.
I've still
got some 700 pictures to rummage through so hang in
there.
I'd tell you about the
Sunday ride that started out with eggs, ribeye steak
and scallops before the great ride on some of Wisconsin's
best twisty roads most of us have never been on, and
a few gravel/dirt roads to add into the mix, but I've
run out of words. Look at a good map - between Irvington,
Eau Galle, Prescott - check out the numbered roads,
don't be afraid of a little dirt and gravel, and then
N, S, P, PP, A, B, BB, EE, X, XX, Y, Z, ZZ.
It's getting late in the
season - Get out there, enjoy the countryside
Wed 9/23
Choo Choo, LorettoTrains, burgers, Fun RC: ChuckS
Also known for their chicken
wings - some , such as Chuck, would say they are better
than the ones at Mayslack's. Hmmm...
Day's sure are getting
shorter; nights getting cooler; Corner marker confusion
sets in sooner... In the end Everyone eventually arrived.
Save the map for a great fall putt-putt style of ride.
Here
is the Ride Report submitted by Chuck:
The ride to Choo Choo bar left
at 6:45 and went down 55 to 7th St. We stayed
together well as we went up 55 where there was some
confusion at the left turn on Old CR 15 because of the
traffic blocking the view of the corner marker.
I guess I should have made a right-hand
turn and gone around the block and crossed 55 at the
right to avoid this.
We then went up to Sunset Trail
where I lost the ride at the corner that was not a corner
that I should have marked but didn't because Sunset
Trail went straight ahead and Zachary Lane North turned
left. The main road looked like it followed Zachary
Lane North. So I guess the moral of the story
is when in doubt - Mark the Corner anyway.
(or see Mark for spray paint)
The group got to the Choo Choo
bar anyway and every body had a chance to eat and drink
have a good time.
I will do this ride again next
year But earlier in the year or on Sat. when there is
more day light.
This was a spur of the moment
thing when I saw that no one had signed up to lead the
ride last Wednesday.
So for short notice planning it didn't go too badly.

Sat 9/26
Al's Booya Party in
North Hudson
RC: Scott?
Booya- "Bam!",
"in your face", and "hell yeah", all at the same time
That about covers the ride
and destination. Big thanks to Al for his hospitality.
From the 15 chickens on the king sized spit and firepit,
a bar in the back yard and on to the huge pot of 'Booyah'
stew - it was a great destination. Oh Yea;
the ride was really good too.
And now a note from Al
& Dave to the Ohio fans - We have the football.
See for yourself... (yes, that's a link to the picture)
Now I'm going to spin
this story - and I'm sticking to it until someone sends
in something to correct and/or expand it:
Down to Prescott, passed
up the twisted Cty Rd 'O', around Ellsworth, over to
El Paso for the 'PoP' stop. From there it was
up and a bit to the left for a gas stop in Hammond.
Last leg was over and up
to Burkhardt to get just north of Hudson
And now we wait to see
if any of the 40 or so riders present on the ride will
be so kind as to submit a line or three (a couple words?).
Sun 9/27
Was going to head to
Eau Galle for the Packers game (and the free brews and
food) at Cindy's Bottom's Up but looking at the odds
we opt'd for Little Bar to watch the Vikings. (just
heard that it rained to and from Eau Galle also - Cold,
Cold rain)
That was some ending wasn't
it. Good Coneys and 3 free brews.
A stop at Chris and Jeannine's
for some fresh canned salsa, pickles and then a late
spaghetti dinner while watching the old Wizard of Oz
put us right into the best of the cold, howling, wind
driven rain on the ride home. Yea, we should have
left earlier - Who knew
The First 12 miles with
only jean jacket, t-shirt along with thin summer gloves
were not too bad but the next couple of miles allowed
the cold rain to finish soaking in and reminding me
of my morning thought about chaps, rain suit and heavy
gloves. Oh well.
Me thinks fall has descended
upon us - How was your day...
Wed 9/30
'The Park' Smokers
SunSet Ride
RC: Smoker
Actually it was Big Rivers
Regional Park just south of Lucky's 13.
It's a very bright, sunny,
warm day for the seasons last official ride.
Ended up at a very nice
overlook of the river as we watched the airplanes take
off right over our heads. Great sunset also.
- As of today it's only 204 days to the first club ride
of 2010...
Coming up next is the Year End Party
at Dick's Porting.
One of the more important
items that was shamefully omitted from the year
end was the recognition that should have been
given to 'Harry the Hat' (aka Harry Strand) for
his 35 Years / 700 Rides
- just because the patch is missing was no reason to
omit the acknowledgement of his achievement.
Please
accept an apology from us all.
Sat 10/10
West
Bank Motorcycle Club Year End Party
That's it for
another season folks - Let's think about ways to make
the next season even better while your reading this.
Until I hear from others
you'll have to put up with my ramblings...
Someone with awards pictures please send some in...
Friday started off nice
enough and then I got the call - confusion -
I ended up getting the
pig and headed up to Dick's Porting by 6.
The set up crew included
Paul & Michelle - brought lots of stuff; Gary
and Duane Ruiz - decorations; Scarfy, Milo, Duane
Eck - balloon entertainment; Paul - the dozens
of jello shots.
Getting the roaster and
spit ready - harald
Supervising - dick, harald,
vern, lissa and finally everyone else.
Extra Big thanks
to Dick and Katie for having us. Thanks lissa
for providing the above information - I
was busy
For the others I forgot
to mention, sorry and Thank You.
Those showing up for fun
and games & getting under foot -thanks
Piggy's belly fat betrayed
the petite look as she weighed in at 121.
Cleaned up, wired up and
stuck up on the spit in short order she made a good
presentation in her ghostly white sheen against the
black coal and burned on grease from the many past roastings.
It was easy to imagine
the dark-roasted tan coming soon.
Little more cleanup and
setup and time to relax.
Surveying the site at midnight
revealed that everything was in place for an easy start
in the early morning. By the time I headed home
it was looking like almost Blizzard conditions and getting
worse.
Saturday, 7am, and it's
past time to be getting things started. Fire got started
at 8am and now the concern for a few hours is that the
spit keeps rotating and the cooker stays HOT on this
blustery, cold, waiting for more snow morning.
Worse part was getting my shoes and socks wet when walking
through the snow covered ground. Took me over
an hour to realize I could just drape my socks and shoes
over the pig in the roaster to dry them out...
Everything was very quiet
until mid afternoon when Vern, and then others, started
showing up at drawn out intervals.
By about 4 things had gotten
set up and the pig was within an hour of maximum tenderness.
A Thank You to all that helped with final setup
and another Big Thanks to those that brought
the many foods, drinks, sweets, sours, spicy stuff and
other things to share.
As is usual, the fire got
started very early and lasted into the very early morning.
Not as big as most years but not too bad.
Somewhere around 5 the
pig was off the spit and on the table waiting to be
sectioned. After some initial concern as to the
doneness, soon diagnosed and attributed to the massive
amounts of belly fat on this porker, the carving began.
The first sliver was oh so good - as were the little bits and pieces
from each of the sections which, of course, is a necessary
task of the roastmaster/carvers to verify the doneness,
tenderness and sweetness of the bounty before presenting
it to the masses.
Another Thank You to Carla
for keeping the crowd away from the chopping table -
I hate it when fingers get in the way of the knives.
Also thanks to Dick
Snyder, our host for this event, for his master carving
expertise and his two new electric knives slashing away.
Food was devoured in good
West Banker, grab all you can, fashion. No one
needed to worry about seconds as there was plenty to
go around - even for the real late comers.
On to the awards - Vern
snagged the High Mileage award with and amazing 15,000
miles during the season and also managed to get in 43
club rides. - His Honda must have one comfortable seat.
Kevin M came in a close
2nd, down only about a thousand miles but there was
only one award. Who's going for it next year?.
Next up was the '2009 Touring
Award' which went to Carla, Milo and harald for making
all of the 46 rides this year -
Trivia:
Who has gotten this award 10 years in a row...
One of the more important
items that was left out was the recognition that should
have been given to 'Harry the Hat' (aka Harry Strand)
for his 35 Years / 700 Rides - just because the patch
was missing was no reason to omit the acknowledgement
of his achievement (and longevity).
Congratulations Harry - hope I can be there to
give you the 40 and 45 years patches
---- Lissa supplied
me with the following information:
Congrats to the following;
Awards (per existing records)
- 700 rides/35 years -
Harry;
300 rides/15 years - Vern;
200 rides/10 years - harald.
New Life Member -
Tracey Wasson.
Road Captains
- Brenda Bistodeau, Mike Brier, Willie Dufour,
Mark Eliasen, Franz, Stacie Priester,
Gary Z, Loretta Baty, Chuck Irmiter, Harley
Kevin.
20 rides (first time)
- Justine Perrault, Willie Dufour, Chris
Jaworski, Deb Ruiz, Duane Ruiz, Paul
Zuest, Michelle Scott, Brenda Bennett,
Joe Geror.
Please contact secretary/lissa
if any disagreement.
Sorry for the confusion
about the patches. Contrary to Treasurer, lissa does
not have all of the necessary patches.
----
Thanks to the many sponsors
providing everything from hats to key rings and t-shirts
to gift certificates and drinkables:
The Whiskey Junction, Dick's Porting,
Northway Sports, Boat Drinks, Pilot House,
Yarusso's, Lucky's 13, Drifters, Muddy
Waters, Joe & Stan's, Dr. Mudspringers,
Mike's Barber Shop, ...
Please jump on over to
the
sponsors page to see all of our sponsors for this
riding season - visit them first for your needs.
After the awards and give-aways
it was every man, woman and others for themselves as
the carousing began. Some twisting and turning by the
extremely hot fire, probably to keep all sides of their
person warm or not allowing one side being roasted.
Many others choosing to
stay in the well heated, slightly smokie, 'pole barn'
to allow easy access to the mounds of food still available
on the tables. Also closer to the refreshments.
Now another thanks to those
helping with the final cleanup. The place looked pretty
good by the time the crowd thinned out.
Now if there's someone
out there that's good with names and can fill me in
on the various funny, crazy, strange, embarrassing,
almost embarrassing, observed drama worthy of Days Of
Our Lives, recognitions, antics and whatever - please
send it in...
Last but not least for
this week: Just because it's the end of the season
doesn't mean this web page needs to go silent -
BUT it will take your input to keep things fresh.
Send in pictures (providing
captions make it so much better), writings of pretty
much anything, although motorcycle or club related is
best, plans for next season, full blown web pages you've
designed yourself [I'll post pretty much anything within
reason], new ideas for the web pages [supplying an example
makes it easier to implement] - It's your web
site
Hope
everyone had fun at the various Halloween parties.
While
many have already stored, covered or put up their bikes
there are still plenty that have them 'ready to go'.
Use
the discussion board to get riders together for these
late fall rides or any number of other things.
Here
it is, November already. No news, notes or photo's
have come my way for anything that happened in October
so you can now turn off that computer and get outside.
- - - - - - -
- -
Now
that was fun - sun stayed out longer than I expected.
It
was good to get out for a while. Finally getting some
more use out of those expensive chaps.
The
wind protection on the RT is so much better then the
FJR - but then the FJR was just a little bit more 'FUN'.
This
looks like it may be a good week
What
did the rest of you'z guys & gals do today...
Trivia:
Did you know that 58 out of our 107 or so members got
20 or more club rides during 2009... 2008: 54 of 106; 2007:
42 of 86; 2006: 53 of 94; 2005:
39 of 81; 2004: 43 of 100.
And now a little playing
around with pictures...
let's see
what happens when you click on the images below...
don't forget to
try some of the options like the slideshow, expander,
etc...
You like - Send in your comments on what you want to
see and how.
Scroll on down the page
and see what other images can be expanded...
or use the 'gallery'
feature to cycle through all the images on this page.
Looks like I got another
good toy/tool that will make for more interesting pages
- that is if I get some content and images to post...
If the pages start to
go crazy you can be sure it's just me playing around.
Although if any of the
officers or members have something they would like to
publish on the web site I'll make sure that everything
stays in working order...
Oh yea - before I forget
again... Isn't there anyone out there that will
share some of the pictures you took at the year end??

Hello all!
There is some confusion as to patch disbursement this
year.
The Treasurer is responsible for ordering and distributing
patches;
please contact the
Treasurer directly with any questions.

Many of the WBMC members meet at Whiskey Junction
on the 1st Wednesday of each month during the late fall,
winter and early spring months. There are also
'Ambassador Runs' to our sponsors during or around this
same time frame.
Pretty light 1st Wednesday at the Junction. Saw MarkC
with his laptop (didn't sound like there will be another
newsletter this year), DuaneE, DuaneR,
Milo,
SteveF, lissa, Brenda 2 and others (you'all should know
by now I don't remember names very well). Band was good.
Heard someone say there's another group at Mayslack's
but didn't go to see.
With the weekend looking
really good at this point in time, one of the 'plans'
already in place for this Sat, Nov 7th is to hit
the No Name in Prescott for a 'Happy Meal'
at 10am and then get riding by 11.
You could also get breakfast
at The Point and then head on down to the No Name to
join the others.
What a great day. Almost a dozen showed up at No Name.
SteveF (the original organizer or this ride), Jason,
Mark, lissa & Mike, Mark & Yvonne, Paul, Dave, others...
After Happy Meals all around we made it out of the No
Name very close to 11. Well; Almost
I
started leading but soon Paul took over when I took
more than a minute to reconfigure the GPS to head for
roads we had never traveled. Should a done it
sooner.
As the group headed for 63 I took off
to
pay a return visit to my old friend
Dick on CR K. As always he was fully stocked with
refreshments and didn't mind the intrusion at all.
It's too bad I was not able to drag the whole group
along with me. Dick would have
welcomed everyone on the ride to stay awhile.
The group made it to Durand, Maiden Rock and
another
place or two while I took to the less traveled roads
and got a bunch of pictures. Now this did
mean that I had to backtrack on a number of the roads
just so I could enjoy twisting along the road again
without stopping. Someone has to do it and it
might as well be me. What a great ride.
Just got a look at the pictures and I can tell you they
just do not portray what the actual scene looked like.
The curves were sharper and the hills steeper than they
appear in the photo's.
After a few dirt roads I stopped at Nauti Hawg to watch
some of the
Boss Hoss' light up their tires.
By
nightfall the few that were still on the road met up
at Boat drinks for Oysters and Shrimp. What would you
expect.
There was Mikee, Mark & Yvonne, Doc & Claire and me
(harald). Don't know what happened to the others and
I didn't think to ask. Here's my
Photo's [Photo page Bits & Bits section]
And now for the
details of the main group from PaulM
We went to Maiden Rock for a couple then down to Cty
SS, N, and P to 10 and into Durand to enjoy the large
and sunny deck with a panoramic view of the Chippewa
River at
Shari's Chippewa Club.
I think Jim Morin had a camera so he may have a few
pictures. The ride was really good. Just a few wet leaves
and pockets of sand out in the boonies along the curvy
paths to Durand.
Mark, Yvonne, Dave and Claire stopped at the Gas-Lite
to drain what was ailing them while Jim Morin, Mark
Little, and myself pressed on to Prescott from Durand
on 10.
Jim and Mark veered off for home. I stopped at the shrimp
place for one and waited for a while to see if anyone
else would show up. [Harald
arrived at 6:05 others 6:13]
I then went up to my other brother Darryl's to watch
my nephew's hockey game on the computer. It was
40 degrees when I left Darryl's place at 11pm.
I'm glad I was over dressed for most of the day, it
really paid off during that cool ride home.
Almost a full day of summer. Hopefully there can be
just one more before the snow flies.
2009.11.08
INTEREST CHECK:
The DNR wants the
WBMC
to have a party; they are willing to kick in for it.
Any "non-profit charitable organization" that wants
culled venison can have them.
I suggest we have
a mid winter BAMBI FEED get together. Interest
and support from the club is required. If you think
this a good idea drop me, Mike McCabe, a note at
zoraft@msn.com
Update on TonyO: - We all wish him well
As most everyone knows Tony has suffered with great
knee pain for at least the last 10 years.
He has changed his Job to compensate.
In the last couple of summers he has had a very tough
time doing his greatest passion - Motorcycle riding.
That is what made him finally decide to have both knees
replaced.
On Oct.30 Tony was scheduled to have both knees replaced
together. Surgery went longer than expected so
the Doctor decided on only the right knee. That
took 3 hr's. Everything went great; Tony is at home
recuperating.
On Nov. 23 Tony is going in for an evaluation on having
the left knee done. He is hoping on getting it done
Nov 30th? Hopefully all will go according
to plan.
Thanks for all your get well
wishes, Kristy Ogilvie
Nothing much going on?
lets see what the North Mississippi Regional Park has
to offer on a cool, overcast day <Photo's>
Saturday looks good to go
for finding some gravel roads.
Don't know about you but I think
I'll be passing through Exile or Devil's Corner or Herod
at about 10am. Haven't been on Blank Hill Road
for some time now. Chimney Rock looks good for
a turn-around. See ya on the return.
--- Well, it seemed like a
good idea last night as I was looking over some routes
with JD & Special Exports help.
Half dressed, tiptoeing out to the
garage at 7am to get my chaps and heavy sweater pretty
much sealed my fate.
Between the frosty windows on the
van, white grass and the thermometers needle sitting
just below 30 I felt I had very good reason to see if
the bed was still warm.
Yes it was - and as much as I was
disappointed in myself for becoming wussified in my
old age I still managed to curl up and fall back into
a light sleep within minutes.
I really thought I'd wake up within
an hour, it would be 40 and I'd be on my way...
Ya, right - The best laid plans...
Well, it's almost 10, just touching
38 degrees, the sun will set about 4:40 - may
as well head to the Junction/Joint for a steak breakfast
and get in a few miles on what is surely the last favorable,
non-electric vest/gloves, riding day.
Forecast is for a 56 degree high
this afternoon
--- So what came next...
What; you weren't there - too bad.
OK; here's a thumbnail of the day...
here's my version:
Kevin on the triumph and Dave on
his Norton said they would be heading towards Lu Sueur
and St. Peter area but ended up closer to Osceola, WI.
Then there was JimM who had already
put on lots of miles on the Valkyrie this morning and
was headed for more.
Finally the group of Mike, Mark &
Yvonne, Chris & harald headed up to Don's Little Bar
where we met up with Paul.
I was sure we had talked about heading
up to Wanderoos via some pretty nice twisty roads.
Being one to believe that sticking to the planned route
benefits the most I figured that taking some of the
more questionable roads would add to the fun. Being
at the back of the pack I peeled off and Mark tagged
along for the fun.
I'm pretty sure we did have a fun
time on the roads we took, and with out hitting any
gravel I don't think Mark had any complaints on this
route either.
We arrived at Wanderoos and were
surprised to have arrived before the others -
and then we waited.
After a while Mark made a couple
of phone calls which went unanswered... Sometimes cell
phones ain't no good.
Seems the main group headed to Star
Prairie and then on to St. Paul. Oh well - all
I can say is 'You shouldn't have followed me if you
didn't want to be 'lost'".
Ended going back through Osceola
around dark on our way back to Little Bar while looking
at he crescent moon in the crystal clear night sky.
Yea - it was a bit cool.
Without a passenger able to take
pictures there are none.
Sunday football at Little
Bar. Again the Vikings
provided those present at the Little Bar a trio of refreshments.

Stay around

Last item in the works for this year is to re-introduce
something started around December 1996 on CyberNude.com.
We should see if we can update the list to better reflect
the year 2010 and beyond.
Here's the last I have from CyberNude.com
as originally published in todonude.htm
"There are some things that are best done clothed. Likewise
there are some things best done nude. There are also
many more things that can be done equally well clothed
or nude!
What would you recommend doing nude?
What
would you recommend not doing nude?
In the following lists, assume a nude friendly environment
is available, and common sense and normal protective
gear are used when applicable. Remember we are still
in a nude hostile world, so play it smart if you are
going to engage in any of the activities listed below
while nude. Enjoy!"

you can quickly send in your additions to the list.
Use regular email for now.
It's going to be weeks, more likely months before anyone
finds this...
This was the stuff I had at the bottom of the home page
for 2009
WHO WE ARE:
West Bankers are just people
who love to ride.
We ride twice
a week and reward the most fanatic among us.
Just a "weekend rider"?
Come ride with US on the weekend! That's right guy's - I'm the one that
did the one on the right... it was done based
on this item in the March 1987 newsletter indicating
the existence of the Lifer Patch (relevant section
below)
Shouldn't we have voted on a new
'lifer' patch as part of the '40 year patches' item
at the general meeting. Maybe not. Lets add it
to the next meeting agenda. Lets spend our money
on something like a new patch
Feel free to send in any documentation
on this... We need something to fill up these
pages this year.

On the left is my Stewardess-Skydiving

Valley Skydivers patch on her chest.
Over on the right is the person
who made me what I am today (and the reason
I'm riding BMW's). Miss ya pop - wishing
you could be riding with me again.

Everyone - Listen up (yes, you)
-- How about we start something just a bit different:
Road Captains should still submit a ride report detailing the route, anything
you feel would be noteworthy for your ride and maybe a few words
of why you chose this route and destination.
Now for the interesting part: Would someone (or two or three)
on the rides
send in a paragraph or three on what you saw on the
ride, your views and/or opinion & maybe a picture or two. It
doesn't seem fair to leave this up to the Road Captains all
of the time. This is especially true if the ride was really
good - most people have a hard time 'blowing their own horn'
to tell everyone how good 'their' ride was. Lets show our appreciation
of the Road Captains efforts by putting a little effort forth
to let them know we appreciate the work that goes into leading
a good ride...
